I hope you enjoy reading about my life in Geneva. Read about our adventures over the next 2 years in and around Switzerland, and I'll provide some good travelling tips and interesting facts that we find out along the way.

Final Ski Trip

After San Francisco, we had a great opportunity to do a final ski trip of the season. Our friend Mary has friends that own a house in Chamonix and she kindly took us with her for a weekend. We drove up on Friday after work and after meeting her friends at Micro Brasserie de Chamonix for some tasty burgers, we arrived at their amazing chalet just 5 minutes from the center of town.  We unloaded our things and spent the rest of the night making fast friends with Mary's friends, Aggie and Ihno.

Apparently all night long it snowed, and when we woke up the next morning it was still coming down pretty hard. So we slept in, had a leisurely morning breakfast, and finally got our ski gear on close to noon.  We dug out Mary's car, and the three of us headed up the mountain and had a few moments of nice weather, but as we rode the ski lift up even further, the visibility got worse and worse.  We braved it for a run or two, but it was so tough to see and the runs were very heavy and sticky that we weren't having any fun. And when the nausea and dizziness from no visibility started setting in, we called it an early day and headed into town.

We did a little shopping in town, then grabbed a drink and lunch at Chambre Neuf.  Heading back to the chalet, we brought back a bunch of groceries so we could bbq and cook dinner that evening. We spent the rest of the evening cooking a huge dinner and having great conversations, and really enjoyed having a big house to hang out in and relax for the weekend.  The next day, the weather wasn't much better, so we decided to just relax some more and then hit the road back to Geneva in the early afternoon.  Even though we didn't get much skiing in, it was still a wonderful end to the ski season, to be in the mountains with the snow, and with some great friends.
